Ballast Water Management System
SHIKOKU CHEMICALS CORPORATION provides the ballast water management system “MICROFADE® II” and the dedicated chemical “NEO-CHLOR MARINE®” for ocean‑going vessels that must comply with the Ballast Water Management Convention.
MICROFADE® II combines high‑precision filtration with chlorine chemical injection to deliver stable ballast water treatment performance in all sea areas, including freshwater and highly turbid waters, contributing to the protection of the marine environment.

Reliable and Stable Treatment Performance
MICROFADE®II uses a high-precision filter to remove more than 99.99% of large-sized plankton from the water.
In addition, it is equipped with an automatic backwash system, which allows for stable filtration without stopping operation.
The active substance uses a safe and versatile chlorine agent that is commonly used in swimming pools, etc.
And provides reliable and stable treatment performance in various marine areas with high turbidity that are difficult to deal with using the UV method and freshwater areas where chlorine cannot be generated using the electrolysis method. -
High De-ballasting Capacity
MICROFADE®II has a de-ballasting capacity that is 1.5 to 2 times the vessel's ballast processing capacity, which contributes to shortening loading times.
In addition, MICROFADE's ballast water retention time is as short as four hours in seawater/brackish water and 24 hours in freshwater, allowing de-ballasting in a short time, and minimizing ship operation schedules. -
Energy Saving
MICROFADE®II uses a hybrid system of filters and low-concentration chemicals, realizing energy savings with power consumption of 15% of the UV method and 70% of the electrolysis method (according to our research).
